LISTEN: Hong Kong Watch patron Lord Alton interviewed about the passage of the Human Rights and Democracy Act
Hong Kong Watch patron Lord Alton of Liverpool was interviewed today about the passage of the Human Rights and Democracy Act on BBC World today. He said:
”I don’t think this was passed because the Senate or the House of Representatives suddenly had become anxious about trade wars. It was passed because they have seen the erosion of Hong Kong’s autonomy, the erosion of rule of law, the erosion of human rights… I am not surprised that the Congress has passed this legislation and I suspect we will see comparable legislation passed by the United Kingdom.”
